metro

the metro here is nuts. i realized the other day that they dont have any parking lots in paris. now, i will tell you why. it is because EVERYONE takes the metro because it is SOO convenient. and so confusing to a etranger, (which is a stranger in french) so anyways, they have 16 metro lignes all intercrossing and whatnot. the only way to tell whether you are on the right metro going the right direction is to make sure you follow the signs. so, for example, line 1 goes in both directions so you have to know the name of the end of the line in hte direction you are going in to make sure youre going the right way. i know its confusing and i have no idea how i figured it out. once you figure it out, its actually very easy and very accesible. so anyways, because there are so many people taking the metro, sometimes there are tons of people travelling the same direction you are and it gets crowded. me being from a small town of like 9 people, im not used to that... so, i always think its really funny when you stop at a stop and you get off and so do 70 of your closest friends and you all go in the same direction, take the same stairs and then branch off after that depending on where youre going. its like a scene out of a movie.
